Fleet Trainer Qualification Course
Experienced drivers need to be coached using completely different methods from those used in basic learner driver training. All professional driver trainers need to be specifically skilled in how to do this effectively and efficiently.
The emphasis is more on developing better attitudes than just giving fresh knowledge or teaching new skills. Fleet trainers are trained to instill a safe attitude towards driving, by the use of planned, skillful coaching, often concentrating on what may have been forgotten rather than to overload the clients with new skills. On-line risk assessment will highlight the specific training needs of most company drivers, therefore, suitable training courses can be prepared in advance to ensure that the training meets a client’s needs.
The skill of a fleet trainer is to provide clients with the opportunity to develop their existing skills in a supportive environment.
Aim:
To provide prospective fleet trainers with the skills required for entry to the DSA Register of fleet trainers, who can be relied upon by the fleet driver industry to provide good quality training for qualified drivers
Course content:
- Delivering fleet presentations
- Risk assessment
- Driving licence and eyesight check
- Show me/tell me (basic vehicle checks)
